Abstract
Quadriceps femoris tendon rupture is less frequent than other types of tendon ruptures. The majority of quadriceps femoris tendon rupture cases are above 40 years of age. Factors such as chronic renal failure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus and hyperparathyroidism are defined to predispose to QTR. Early diagnosis and treatment of these cases result with successful outcomes. In this case, there was no predisposing factor except diabetes mellitus which was regulated by diet. QTR has emerged after a minor trauma and early surgical intervention provided normal function in this patient.
