Abstract

The subclavian steal is retrograde blood flow in the vertebral artery associated with proximal ipsilateral subclavian artery stenosis or occlusion. In subclavian steal syndrome, retrograde blood flow from the vertebrobasilar artery circulation to supply the arm results in vertebrobasilar insufficiency. As the vertebrobasilar arterial system feeds both the peripheral and central auditory and vestibular systems, neurotological symptoms are expected when occur vertebrobasilar insufficiency. In present case, we describe a patient suffering from subclavian steal syndrome, who presented with isolated vertigo. Patients complaining of isolated vertigo should be thoroughly examined for subclavian steal syndrome.
